"Catching the Light" by Arthur Zajonc (Bantam Books, 1993) is a wonderful review of the history of our perception of light. How we see the world has changed with the evolution of cultures and science.

"Hyperspace" by Michio Kaku (Anchor Books Doubleday, 1994) discusses light as a wave of the fifth dimension.

"Eye and Brain" by Gregory provides a classic overview of the functioning of the vision system. Make sure you get the most recent edition, since Gregory has updated the text several times over the years.

"Inner Time: The Science of Body Clocks and What makes us Tick, by Carol Orlock.

Research on blindness and biological clocks is being conducted by Alfred J. Lowry, a psychiatrist at Oregon Health Services at the University of Portland (Resetting the biological clocks of blind individuals).
