Mark Uslan has a M.Ed. in Education and a M.S. in Physiological Optics. He has worked in the field of services to the blind for over 20 years. He joined the American Foundation for the Blind in 1979 as AFB's national consultant in orientation and mobility and in 1990 he became the manager of technical evaluation services in the National Technology Center of AFB. He is a contributing editor to AFB's technology journal, AccessWorld.

Mark has published over 20 journal articles and two books, one on the profession of orientation and mobility and the other on mass transit access. In 1987 he received an award for outstanding contributions to the transit industry and in 1990 he received the AFB Access Award for outstanding efforts to improve access to the environment for blind and visually impaired persons.
